Our Springtime Scavenger Hunt competition brought in a burst of colour, creativity and curiosity! From blossom hunts and frog-filled ponds to bees buzzing in crocuses and brilliant nature poems, your entries captured the magic of the season in so many wonderful ways. Thank you to everyone who took part – we were amazed by your discoveries and loved seeing spring through your eyes.
Frog party
"We found this pool full of frogs and frogspawn on Saturday, 8th March 2025. We said it looked like a frog party! They were all sat together with their heads sticking out in the sunshine! Then something scared them and they all dived under the pond weed, leaving their frogspawn floating on the top.”
Tree blossoms
"My favourite sign of spring is tree blossoms. I went to Dane Park in Margate in search of blossoms, then painted a picture of them. The blossoms are just starting, in a few weeks there will be lots of them! The cherry trees in Dane Park caught my attention as they were planted as part of the Sakura Cherry Tree Project, planting trees as a symbol of friendship between Japan and the UK and giving us a chance to participate in ‘Hanami’, the Japanese custom of enjoying the beauty of flower."
Blue tit and blossom
Spring
Snowdrops sprout from the frost covered floor, Spring is on its way
Primrose flower, yellow and bright, appears on the bank next to the trickling stream, Spring is just around the corner
Rays of sunlight shine down, throwing a warm blanket over the dewy grass, Spring is near
In the soil a bulb sprouts and a daffodil unearths its fresh pointed buds and leaves
Nature wakes, the bird-song begins
Green leaves, tiny at first, finally burst from the patient branches of the hedgerow, Spring is here!
"I chose the blue flowers because they have a vibrant blue colour which usually comes with spring.I chose the bumble bee in the flower because bees come out at spring to feast on nectar.I chose the dove in the foliage because the grass was vibrant and their was a little dovums there.I chose the nested dove in the tree because it was slightly puffy and cute."
