Leatherback Sea Turtle

There are seven species of sea turtle, and the largest of all is the magnificent leatherback. It can grow up to just under two metres long – that’s the size of a tall adult human – and weigh between 300 and 500kg.

Leatherbacks not only grow the biggest, but they dive the deepest (to over 1,000 metres) and swim the furthest. A female leatherback currently holds the record for the longest recorded migration, having crossed the Pacific from west to east and partially back again; a distance of over 20,550km– that’s some commute!

Celebrate these amazing record-breaking long-distance travellers with our large A3 poster.
