We invited you to write some humorous poems called LIMERICKS. They are often silly and funny. We asked you to make it about your favourite pet or anyone else who puts a smile on your face. We had some very funny entries! Thanks to everyone who entered - you certainly made us laugh!

Congratulations to our winners:

Annie, age 8, Dorset

Ney, age 8, Chelmsford

There once was a bear who was poor,
He had to eat scraps from the floor,
He found some money,
Bought loads of honey,
After that he was hungry no more.

Molly, age 7, Oswestry - The Silly Clumsy Rabbit

Luca, age 8, Eye

I have made this limerick about my favourite animal, the orca.

There once was an orca called Willy,
Who lived in a place white and chilly,
His favourite meal Was penguin and seal,
Not icebergs ’cause that would be silly!

Florence, age 11, Chelmsford

There once was a mucky, smelly cat,
Who wore a dirty, grubby hat,
It blew in the wind,
To the tree it got pinned,
And now the hat is owned by a bat!

What you've won!

Our winners will recieve this poetic novel from Scholastic UK.

Call Me Alastair

A funny yet heart-shattering novel about a fierce parrot, a big-hearted boy and a spirited elderly widow, all learning to live fully-fledged lives. Born in the back of a pet store, Alastair the African grey parrot dreams of escape, to fly off with his beloved sister, Aggie. But when Aggie is purchased by 12-year old Fritz, and Alastair is adopted by Mrs Albertina Plopky, Alastair’s hopeful vision of the future crash-lands. Between anxiously plucking his feathers, chewing a few books, and finding his own poetic voice, Alastair plots his way to Aggie and their flight to freedom. Age: 8+.
RRP: £6.99
