In our ‘Wetland Wildlife’ issue, we asked you to design your own wetland
creature. Thanks a million to everyone who entered the competition!
Your creativity was out of this world!
Here is my wetland creature. I had lots of fun researching and creating it. I hope you like it.
Appearance: Pingree has really soft, sleek skin. It is pink and green in colour, that is where the name comes from. It is an amphibian and lives in rushes near swamps.
Size:16cm
Habitat: It makes its bed in a clump of reeds or rushes in the wetlands, where it lays its spawn.
Characteristics: It has sharp teeth for catching small fish and large insects, eg dragonflies. It looks quite cute but it is actually really fierce.
Sound: Harsh and guttural shriek when angry, but when luring prey it gives a sweet calming hypnotic purring noise.
Predators: Crocodiles and hippos.
Our fire fang swamp snake has electrified fire, dinosaur eyes and a fire-shock tongue!
This is my Swamp Monster. He is camouflaged, so he can catch little fishes.
